Delaware’s Golf Course Best Management Practices

Delaware’s Golf Course Best Management Practices committee is proud to announce the publication of the document Best Management Practices for Delaware Golf Courses and its companion website (delawaregolfbmp.org).

Delaware’s golf course superintendents, in partnership with University of Delaware scientists, developed these research-based, voluntary guidelines specifically for the state of Delaware. In addition, state agency representatives from a number of departments within the Delaware Dept. of Natural Resources and the Delaware Department of Agriculture reviewed these guidelines in draft final form and their input provided valuable assistance in finalizing the guidance.

In addition to the state’s pesticide regulations, these BMPs not only protect natural resources, they also afford the opportunity for superintendents to be recognized by club members, the community at large, and state officials as environmental stewards.

Superintendents can begin using our state BMPs to enhance your facility operations, as a communication tool for golfers at your facility, and as a learning experience for your staff. The GCSAA has developed an on-line tool that allows superintendents anywhere in Delaware to use the state BMPs and then adapt specifically for your facility. More information on using the GCSAA’s on-line tool is available on their website at www.gcsaa.org.
