Katie Tipton Benefit Information

Dear members and friends of the ESAGCS:

There are times in our lives when we have the opportunity to step up and help our friends and associates when tragedy strikes in their lives, and this is one opportunity.

The Board and Conference Committee has unanimously agreed to support the Katie Tipton Fund during all events at the 2014 ESAGCS Fall Turfgrass Conference.  In keeping with the philosophy of supporting our members and their family and friends we are asking all members:

Bring an item(s) from your club or business of value to be packaged and sent to the silent auction event.  Golf shirts, golf balls or anything similar would make for a great package to send.

We will also be holding 50/50 raffles during the event, with proceeds going to the Katie Tipton Fund.  Thank you for your concern and help!

Dear Friends,

The Oahe Presbyterian Church along with Katie’s family and friends have come together to host a special Katie Tipton Chili Supper, Bake Sale, and Silent Auction event. This event is to benefit Katie Tipton and will help to defray on-going medical expenses as she battles Brain Cancer. The Chili Supper Event is being held at the Faith Lutheran Church Gymnasium on Friday November 21, 2014 from 4 PM to 7:30PM. Individuals will be collecting silent auction, bake sale, other craft sale items and will help serve guests to raise funds to benefit Katie Tipton. Cash donations can be made to the
Katie Tipton Fund at:

BankWest
420 S. Pierre Street
Pierre, SD 57501

Katie is 28 years old and is married to Travis Tipton. Katie and Travis together have 4 young girls. Katie has grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiform Brain Cancer. This was discovered while Katie was 31 weeks pregnant. On September 23, Katie delivered a beautiful baby girl, Autumn Katharine at only 35 weeks gestation. The baby was recently released after spending approximately 2 weeks in the Avera Sioux Falls Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Katie just underwent brain surgery and is currently recovering from this and her C-section delivery; unfortunately not all of the tumor could be removed so treatment will be on-going to include radiation and chemotherapy which will require on-going visits and stays in Sioux Falls and the Mayo Clinic. There are also brain tumor cancer centers the family may need to visit out of state in order to fight this aggressive cancer.

Should you have any questions or need additional information regarding the event please contact Tina Titze at 605-223-3119 and please leave a message if needed.

We thank you in advance for your generous donation and hope to see you on November 21, 2014 for the Katie Tipton Chili Supper Event.

Sincerely,

Tina Titze
