Queenstown Md – The Eastern Shore Association of Golf Course
Superintendents recently held its first strategic planning meeting, in
conjunction with representatives from the Golf Course Superintendents
Association of America. The goal of this
strategic planning session is to help local chapters like the ESAGCS to
establish a framework that helps them to focus on accomplishing specific goals
and broaden the scope of member involvement.
The
ESAGCS Board of Directors, made up of local golf course superintendents and
golf vendor representatives, met with GCSAA Mid-Atlantic Field Staff Representative
Chase Rogan, and GCSAA Associate Director of Chapter Outreach Steve Randall. The
mission of the session was to help the chapter design a roadmap of activities
for the coming months and years to help build additional momentum of a
well-organized chapter.
With
guidance from Randall and Rogan, the ESAGCS board participated in an
analysis exercise to determine the strengths, challenges, opportunities and
risks of the chapter. This analysis was
critical to helping the ESAGCS formulate a new mission statement, and new
vision statement, and establish short and long term chapter goals.
President Mike Salvio, CGCS of Ocean City Golf Club was very satisfied with the
meeting results –
had a lot of value, in that everyone had input to share. It was very productive and will add to the
value of both local and national GCSAA memberships. We will implement many of the ideas we
discussed over the next year.”
