Dear ESAGCS Member:
The Eastern Shore Association of Golf Course Superintendents (ESAGCS) is proud to announce the application process for the 2023 Mike Gilmore Scholarship. Our scholarship programs have given more than $75,000 to over 80 deserving college students over the years.
The Mike Gilmore Scholarship is representative of our vision to create an association based on the free exchange of knowledge and experiences in the field of golf course management, all in a relaxed and friendly way that is indicative of life here on the Eastern Shore. The ESAGCS is proud to award this Scholarship created in the memory of Mike Gilmore’s dedication to the Turfgrass Industry. During Mike’s many years as Golf Course Superintendent and Business Owner, his success was fueled by high integrity and his fierce desire to help others. As a longtime member of the ESAGCS, Mike was always willing to lend a helping hand, find a solution to an issue or just share a story. Mike’s compassion and dedication to family, friends, customers, and the industry will be missed, but certainly not forgotten.
Members of your staff who are pursuing a career in the turf management industry and are currently enrolled as a student at a qualifying university or college are eligible to receive these scholarships. All applicants must work for an ESAGCS member in good standing.
To qualify, the applicant must fill out the form completely and include the mailing address of the admissions office of the school they will be attending. Please encourage the applicants to be as thorough as possible and to include additional relevant information. They may also attach additional typewritten sheets if the space allotted on the application is not sufficient. Questions may be directed to the ESAGCS at admin@esagcs.org.
Applications are due by September 1, 2023, and the scholarships will be awarded at our annual ESAGCS Conference on November 2, 2023, in Ocean City, MD.
