Meeting:
For our March meeting we were very pleased to have Darin Bevard, director of Championship Agronomy for the USGA Green Section speak to attendees about his year in review.
Darin commented on conditions superintendents are facing as a result of another cooler than normal winter. Many of us are again working hard to overcome a slow start and some winter damage, especially in northern areas. He also gave practical suggestions on how to combat the agronomic issues we regularly see in our region. Hollow and solid tine aerification, sand topdressing, and providing adequate sunlight, water and nutrients to the turf were suggested as staples for a successful agronomic program.
